Why has the Kamnun and Phu Yai Ban Institution in Thailand Remained active?

On the 30th of August, I listened to an interesting talk by the Director-General (DG) of the Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA) at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan's Kalasin campus. The DG talked about the role and responsibility of a group of personnel at the periphery, the Tambon Chiefs, and the Village Chiefs.
He said most of the department spent the budget on the monthly allowance of the Kamnan and Phu Yai Ban. This enormous amount of money results in arguments against the existence of this group of personnel at a village level. However, there has been supporting from other sectors arguing that the manpower has rendered many advantages to the national peace and order both in the southern region and in other parts of the country.
He, therefore, encouraged his men to put more emphasis on enhancing their performances. He advised them to take actions wisely with proactive strategies. He insisted that they take actions no matter how little the amount of the problem they can overcome.
Just take an action. Just get a thing done. Just take an action to solve any problem in a locality.
If you can clean a road once a week or if you can caring for the environment of your community, that is OK. If every one of us just take one action daily, your results will combine to make a total of 70,000 deeds in a day because there are more than 70,000 villages in Thailand.
If each Phu Yai Ban can seize just a pill of Methamphetamine, 70,000 tablets of this evil drug would be destroyed daily.
Think hard about it.  And go to take action wisely. Working your networks to enhance your performance.
And do not forget to make a report of your daily activities. It proves that we work in a smarter way.
