Namon is one of the 18 administrative districts in Kalasin Province. A district is a unit of regional administration having a Nai Amphoe aka District Officer or DO as the public leader of the organisation. It has five subdistricts (tambon), which consist of 66 villages (muban). As regard local government, Na Mon is a municipality (thesaban tambon) with an area that covers some parts of tambon Na Mon. The other villages in this Tambon fall under the other form of local government with the name of Tambon Administration Organization. There are altogether five Tambon administrative organisations (TAO) in this district. The table below shows data of governmental institutions of the community.
The Namon Campus of Kalasin University, which results from the merging of Kalasin Rajabhat University with the Kalasin Campus of The Rajamabgala University, is at Tambon Song Pluey of Namon District. But it is closer to Somdet District which is more urbanised than Namon. This location results in the settlement has more economic linkages with Somdet than with Namon. However, the public linkage has strengthened the chain between the University to the Namon Administration.
Regarding transportation, the government has improved the Namon settlement access to Kalasin town by upgrading Route # 12 from Kalasin to Somdet to accommodate heavier traffic volume. Moreover, the administration has furthermore developed the rural road# 2336 from #12 at Nong Pha Orm through Namon community to Kuchinarai aka Buakao. As a result of this improvement, Namon has gained better access to both Kalasin town and Bua Kao Municipality.
It is interesting to note that Namon is one of so-called "agropolitan" districts - the district that has agricultural activities as a competitive advantage because it has plenty of Para rubber plantations, sugar cane and rice fields.Namon is just 50 kilometres from Kalasin town.
